Email Alias
Also known as: Plus Alias
An email alias is a version of your email address that still delivers to the same inbox. It lets you create different addresses for signups and tracking without managing more accounts.
An email alias is a tweak to your normal email address that still sends mail to the same place. Most people use a plus sign and a word, like alex+newsletter@gmail.com. The part before the plus is your real address, and the extra text helps show where you used it. This gives you quick context every time a message arrives.
Email aliases matter because they tell you how someone signed up and what they care about. Many power users rely on aliases to sort newsletters, shopping, and product updates into the right folders. If your forms or tools block aliases, you may turn away some of your most engaged subscribers. Treating aliases as valid also makes your list data more honest.
As a rule, accept email addresses that include a plus sign and store the full value exactly as entered. Do not strip out the alias part or merge multiple aliases into one record. If someone unsubscribes from one alias but keeps another, treat those as separate choices. This keeps their preferences clear and builds more trust.
