Wireframe

A wireframe is a simple sketch of your email layout that maps out where each key element sits before you design it. It helps you plan the structure without getting caught up in colors, fonts, or final copy.

An email wireframe is a rough sketch of your message before you design it. You map out where the logo, headline, images, text, and buttons will sit. At this stage you only work with simple boxes and labels. That keeps you focused on structure instead of colors and fonts.

Wireframes matter because they help you spot layout problems early. You can see if the main message and call to action sit high enough on the page. It is also easier to share a wireframe with teammates and adjust the flow before anyone writes copy or builds the email. This saves time and reduces back and forth later.

A simple way to start is to open a blank page and draw stacked sections for header, hero, body, and footer. Add short notes like logo, main headline, product image, primary button, or legal text. Then check how that layout might collapse on mobile and remove anything that feels extra. Once the structure feels clean, move into your design tool and build the real version.
