Migration Flow

A practical migration plan from Vero to Bento

This guide follows a simple sequence: export cleanly, map data correctly, then validate before cutover. No generic product pitch, just the steps your team needs.

1Export from Vero
2Transfer and map in Bento
3Validate and launch
Stage 1

Export checklist

  1. 1Review your Vero projects and messaging setup

Log in to Vero and list the projects, newsletters, journeys, and transactional messages you are currently using.

  2. 2Export people and segments from Vero

Export profiles and segment members as CSV files, keeping subscribed and unsubscribed exports separate so consent state survives the move.

  3. 3Export custom fields and traits

Review the attributes attached to your users, then inspect the columns in each generated Vero export. Map available columns to Bento fields and ask Vero support about any required attributes that are missing.

  4. 4Preserve email templates and content

Export or copy source HTML where Vero makes it available. Treat visual-builder templates as rebuilds unless Vero support confirms an export path for your account.

  5. 5Document workflows, triggers, and timing

For each Vero journey or workflow, record the entry event, conditions, messages, delays, and branches. Accounts with Campaigns API preview access can retrieve journey graphs as an additional rebuild reference.

Validate and cut over

Treat cutover like launch QA. Validate your highest-risk paths first, then move sending traffic.

Send a seed-list test from Bento and verify rendering, links, and tracking.
Compare list and segment counts against Vero before your first live send.
Rebuild high-value automations first, then test each trigger path before cutover.
Keep Vero running for a short overlap while you monitor deliverability in Bento.

Tips

  • Mirror your important Vero segments with Bento tags or segments before you start sending.
  • Rebuild your highest-impact journeys first, like onboarding and trial nurture, before migrating edge-case flows.
  • Use Bento's batched sending and pause controls while you validate events and templates against your Vero metrics.
  • Lean on Bento's support team and community to review your migration plan.

Watchouts

  • Vero documents profile exports and offers a preview Campaigns API for approved accounts, but it does not document a one-click journey import into Bento. Plan to rebuild and test automation logic.
  • If you use Vero's optional BYO email provider, update DNS records, provider webhooks, API keys, and sending credentials during cutover.
  • Per-profile activity exports can preserve history for audit or analysis, but they do not recreate native historical reporting in Bento.
