Step-by-step guide to migrating from Kit (ConvertKit) to Bento. Export subscribers, tags, and sequences with our easy migration process.
Migration Flow
A practical migration plan from Kit (ConvertKit) to Bento
This guide follows a simple sequence: export cleanly, map data correctly, then validate before cutover. No generic product pitch, just the steps your team needs.
Stage 1
Export checklist
- 1Log in to Kit
Go to Kit.com and log in with your credentials. Select Grow > Subscribers from the navigation.
- 2Export Confirmed Subscribers
Go to Grow > Subscribers, select contacts, click Bulk Actions > Export, and use 'Select all # subscribers' to export your full list when needed.
- 3Export Additional Subscriber Statuses
Repeat the export process for Cancelled, Complained, Bounced, or Cold subscribers if they have contacts. Name each file clearly (e.g., 'cancelled-subscribers.csv').
- 4Export Segments
Below the Add Subscriber button, click on each segment to export. Only export segments with subscriber counts greater than 0.
- 5Note Custom Fields
Custom fields are included in your main subscriber export CSV. Review the columns to see all custom fields in use.
Stage 2
Data portability map
Know in advance what imports directly and what may require a rebuild.
Stage 3
Validate and cut over
Treat cutover like launch QA. Validate your highest-risk paths first, then move sending traffic.

- SegmentSegment
Dynamic groups based on rules
- Custom FieldField
Arbitrary data attached to a person
- BroadcastBroadcast
One-time email to a group

Linear time-delayed email sequences
- Visual AutomationFlow
If-this-then-that workflows on steroids
- Link TriggerEvent + Flow logic
Click tracking is automatic and universal in Bento

Same templating language, slightly different helpers
Tips
- Tags are included in exported CSVs - comma-separate multiple tags
- Test with your own email first after importing
- Keep Kit running during the transition period
- Document your automation logic before rebuilding
Watchouts
- Lists over 100k rows may be split into multiple CSVs - download all parts
- If export email doesn't arrive in 10 minutes, check Promotions/Spam folders
- Tags not assigned to any contacts won't appear in exports
