Migration Flow
A practical migration plan from Benchmark Email to Bento
This guide follows a simple sequence: export cleanly, map data correctly, then validate before cutover. No generic product pitch, just the steps your team needs.
Stage 1
Export checklist
- 1Log in to Benchmark Email
Sign in at BenchmarkEmail.com with an account that has access to all lists and reports.
- 2Export your active contact lists
Go to Contacts then Lists, open a list, use the export or more options menu, and download the list as a CSV file.
- 3Export unsubscribed and bounced contacts
Filter contacts by status for unsubscribed and bounced and export them to separate CSV files.
- 4Document your automations and drip campaigns
Open each automation or Automation Pro journey and capture screenshots of triggers, delays, and email content.
- 5Collect templates and forms you want to keep
Open important email templates and signup forms, copy the content or HTML you care about, and save brand assets.
Stage 2
Data portability map
Know in advance what imports directly and what may require a rebuild.
Stage 3
Validate and cut over
Treat cutover like launch QA. Validate your highest-risk paths first, then move sending traffic.

Tips
- Clean your Benchmark exports before importing so you remove obvious bad or inactive addresses.
- Use Benchmark lists as a guide for the tags you create in Bento.
- Rebuild only the automations that still matter to your strategy instead of copying everything.
- Send a warm welcome or reintroduction campaign once your contacts are live in Bento.
Watchouts
- Automation workflows and drip series do not migrate automatically and must be rebuilt in Bento.
- Email level performance history stays in Benchmark and is not imported.
- Landing pages, surveys, and form designs need to be recreated using your site or other tools.
