# Understanding Bento's Engagement Score

Your Bento account shows a letter grade that reflects the health of your email list. This page explains what each grade means and what to do about it.{{ className: 'lead' }}

## The ABCs of Engagement Scores

Bento's Engagement Score is a letter grade (A, B, C, D, or F) that reflects the health of your email list.
Each grade has a different meaning:

- **A**: High opens, clicks, and website engagement.
- **B**: A solid score, especially for large accounts. Focus on maintaining high open rates (above 30%).
- **C**: A sign of list health issues. See the section below.
- **D**: Your emails aren't being seen or read. Requires immediate action.
- **F**: The worst case. Your account is likely locked and your domain may be on a blacklist.

If you have an A or B, continue your current strategy.

## What a C Score Means

If you find yourself with a **C** score, it's time to investigate.
Typically, a C indicates list health issues rather than deliverability problems.

Some common causes:

- Low-quality signups from promos or giveaways
- Automated signups adding unengaged users
- DNS issues with DKIM or SPF

To bounce back, secure your forms, clean your list, and focus on engaging active users.

## What D and F Scores Mean

A **D** score suggests that your emails aren't being seen or read.
If you're doing everything right (opt-ins, expected content), reach out to Bento support.
Check your signups for any suspicious activity or abuse.
Don't wait. You can recover your domain reputation with the right steps.

An **F** score is the worst-case scenario.
Your account is likely locked down, and you're on a blacklist.
If you believe it's unwarranted, Bento can help you with delisting requests.
However, if you're engaging in questionable practices, it's time to reevaluate your approach.

### Quick Reference

- A and B scores are healthy. Keep doing what you're doing.
- C scores warrant investigation and list cleanup.
- D and F scores require immediate action and potentially Bento support.
